This last year has brought new additions to our utensil collection. Today, we want to share more about our new Cooking Chopsticks and why we love them!
Why cooking chopsticks, you ask?
Cooking chopsticks, aka Saibashi, excel in many kitchen tasks. We love a simple and streamlined design, so these long, tapered chopsticks are a natural addition to the Earlywood family. At 16 inches long, these will keep your fingers far from the heat while letting you handle small morsels with precision.
You don't have to be a chopstick master to utilize these these cooking chopsticks for almost any kitchen task. They can do everything from whipping up fluffy scrambled eggs, turning and grasping delicate items while frying, sautéing stir-fry, and serving up noodle and pasta dishes. These multi-tasking chopsticks can reach individual olives from jars, are perfect for use in non-stick pans, and can even be used to check the readiness of hot oil. Available in hard maple and jatoba.
A little history lesson...
Chopsticks originated as a cooking tool in China as far back as 1200 B.C. They are the primary utensil is China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Early on, long cooking chopsticks were used for reaching deep into boiling pots of water or oil. It wasn't until approximately 400 A.D. that people started using them as eating utensils.
